During a Bead Hunt Funky Frog made a big order from the Kokofrom Cooperative outside Kumasi. These small heart charms were made especially for Funky Frog . The process these metal smiths are using is the same as their ancestors... back then it was gold now it is any metal they can get their hands on!! A gorgeous strand of 46 small lime green with red and yellow splashes Fused Recycled Glass beads on string 19" long. These recycled beads were bought directly from the small factory, TK Beads in Accra, Ghana where the artisans hand make the beads in the labor intensive method of their ancestors from crushing glass to baking the final product in wood ovens. These beads are made by recycling previously used beads, Ghana's answer to Fimo Beads! The beads are melted together in a clay oven to make this beautiful mosaic of colors. Each bead is approx. 14 mm. The beads are handcrafted so will vary in size, colour and shape. There are two sizes of lime green with the yellow and red splash, small and large. These are the small beads. -

A small rustic metal ring found in the Tamale Market in Ghana. The Trader said it is a bracelet worn high up on the arm. The ring is about 1.5" in diameter and is handmade so there is a variation in design and size between the bracelets. -
Two bracelet sized strands of about 30 small round opaque Mustard Yellow Recycled Glass Beads which are strung on string. The beads are about 8 mm. The beads are all handcrafted so will vary in colour, size and shape. The strand you will received will be similar to the photo but may have variations. Funky Frog has 3 sizes in this Mustard Yellow. These recycled glass beads were handcrafted in Ghana, Africa by crushing old, discarded glass, adding colorant and then pouring the powder into clay molds. The stem of a local plant is added, this burns away during firing, leaving a hole for stringing. The beads are fired in a wood burning earthen oven. A bead designed and made by TET Beads, Accra, Ghana. Purple is a very complex colour. There are so many variations. It is said purple symbolizes magic, mystery, spirituality, the sub-conscious, creativity, dignity, royalty – and it does evoke all of these meanings more so than any other color. Further variations of purple can convey different meanings. For instance light purples are light-hearted, floral, and romantic. The dark shades are more intellectual and dignified. You either love purple or you don't. It was the one colour most people asked for before the 2020 Bead Hunt!! These tubular recycled glass beads are close to the 'Mauve' purple in the colour chart. -
